Delete your account

You can delete your Helderberg Social account yourself, at any time, without asking anyone. This page says exactly how, and exactly what goes. It applies to the account you use on the website and in the Android app: they are the same account.

In the app

Open More, tap your account, then Delete my account. The app shows you what will be removed and asks you to confirm. Nothing is deleted until you do.

On the web

Go to your account settings and use Delete my account there. You will be asked to sign in first, because only the account holder may delete the account. You do not need to install anything.

If you cannot sign in any more

If you have lost the number or the email address the account was made with, use the form on the site and tell us which account it is. A person will check that it is yours before removing it.

What is deleted

  • Your name, your mobile number and your recovery email address.
  • Your surname, your home address (your proof of residence), your member number and the record of your vetting.
  • Every sign-in on every device, immediately.
  • Your bookings, and the fact that you were going to anything.
  • Any event you submitted that has not been published yet.
  • Your notification registration, so nothing further is sent to your phone.
  • Your place on any event team you were helping with.

This happens straight away, while you wait, not on a queue.

What stays

An event of yours that was already published stays on the site, because other people are relying on it to know when and where something is happening. Your name and your email address are removed from it first, so it is no longer connected to you. Messages you sent the people booked on it stay too, signed “The organiser” or “A helper” instead of your name. The confirmation screen tells you if this applies to you, and names the events, before it deletes anything.

If you want a published event taken down as well, ask for it on the same form and we will remove it.

Newsletter and WhatsApp updates are separate

Those do not need an account, so deleting an account does not stop them. Every email has an unsubscribe link and every WhatsApp update has an Unsubscribe button; either one removes your record outright.
