If you put on events, run a venue, club, school or church, market things for others, or reach people as a creator, a promoter account lets you post on Helderberg Social yourself, under your own name, and keep control of what you have posted.

What you get

  • Events, as many as you like. Schedule them (pick the day each one first shows), hide one and show it again, edit it, remove it. Each carries a badge.
  • Posts on the noticeboard: short notices that run between two dates you set. Specials, sign-up windows, calls for volunteers, new term dates, an opening.
  • Import a whole season from an .ics or .csv file, previewed before anything is added.
  • Connected calendars: give us the public .ics address of your Google, Outlook or website calendar and new entries come in on their own, every few hours.
  • Listings for your group, activity or place in the directory, straight from the same account.
  • Your events go into the email and WhatsApp digests like every other event.

How it works

  1. Create a free account or sign in (email, Google, Microsoft or Yahoo), then open Promote with us in your account.
  2. Tell us who you are: the name you post under, what you do, a website or social page, the towns you cover, and what you would post.
  3. A person reads every application, usually within a day or two, and you get an email either way.
  4. Once approved, everything you post still gets a quick look before it shows on the site. After a while we may mark you trusted, and then it publishes at once.

What we publish

Things residents of Somerset West, Strand, Gordon's Bay and Sir Lowry's Pass can go to, join or use. Community events, markets, races, shows, classes, open days, club nights, charity drives, specials that are worth knowing about. What we do not publish: adverts with nothing in them for the community, things outside the Helderberg, multi-level marketing, anything we would not want our own families to see. Promoter accounts are free; we may ask a contribution towards the site's running costs from commercial promoters later, and will say so before we do.
